What counts as a notification?
One send() to one recipient is one notification. A scheduled or recurring reminder counts each time it fires. Failed lookups and re-deliveries to the same recipient don't double-charge.
What happens when I hit my plan's cap?
Sends past the monthly cap return a clear 402 until the cap resets — no surprise overage bill, ever. We email you before you're close, and upgrading lifts the cap instantly.
Do you charge per device or per active user?
No. You pay for notifications sent. The device and app caps are fair-use guardrails, not line items, so a quiet user base never costs you more.
Can one subscription cover several apps?
Yes. From Pro up, your apps share one account quota — 5 apps on Pro, 50 on Scale. Each app gets its own API key, logo, and inbox branding; the bill stays one line. Free is for proving one real integration, so it includes one app.
Is the free tier actually free?
Yes, forever. 5,000 notifications a month, no card, no trial clock. Build a real feature on it.
Do I need to build an app?
No. Your users install the Beams inbox once and pair with a QR scan. You call one API. No native app, no APNs cert, no Firebase project, no App Store review for your alerts.
